Mark Lloyd - Goldsmith and Owner of Mobeus

Hi, thanks for looking at my site, I have been in the trade for 25 years now, I started when I was 17 years old when I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship in my local jewellers H.Lamb. After spending the next 15 years working for other jewellers I decided to take the plunge and open my own place which started out as a repair workshop and I slowly developed it into a full retail shop but because the workshop was always so busy I kept it as an integral part of the shop so we could keep working whilst talking to the customers. In recent years I have been involved in some unusual projects which you can read more about in the blog and watch in the video section. The video section was developed because friends and customers are always interested in what happens in a goldsmiths workshop and my son Elliot was starting a video media course at university so it was great for him to be involved and gain experience in making videos and editing them. I hope you like the mobeus site and find the news and videos interesting, it is always good to read the comments and questions I get and I answer any queries as quickly as I can, thanks for reading.

Hi, I have worked for Mark for nearly 10 years now, after working in other jewellers the thing I can say about mobeus that is different to anywhere else I have worked is the customer satisfaction here is fantastic, the lads in the workshop do such a great job and the customers are always pleased with anything they get done in here from the most basic repair to the most complex restoration or complete bespoke commission everything is done to the best of their ability.

 Hi, I have worked for Mark for 13 years now since he took me on as his apprentice, he has trained me in all the many varied types of work a goldsmith has to deal with from the most basic repair right through to diamond setting and how to approach a restoration or bespoke job. The reason a job like this never becomes mundane is there are many ways a job can be done and Mark always allowed me to explore different ways to do things and develop my own techniques and now after so long in the trade I run his workshop and we can bounce ideas between us on the best way to complete a job.

 Hi, I have been a friend of Mark's because of the music we have done together for over 20 years and when he bought a new machine to be able to offer more services at mobeus he offered me the job of learning how to work it and the opportunity to be creative which I was missing in my working life. Now after the last 2 years have flown by I have been involved in some great projects one of which was to create a mechanical silver lily which is now on permanent display in Bowes museum where the famous silver swan lives, and the latest project we have just completed was to make 28 trophies for the Tall Ships event in Hartlepool, along with all the products we have for sale on this site in the Monkey Bizness and Tall Ships categories.
